P-Vock's Music Box: WOAH!
Hello and welcome back to P-Vock's Music Box. Man, it is SOOOOOO FREAKIN' HOT! I hate this weather so much. Every day before noon, I am already sweatier than a frog's armpit just by merely existing. It's muggy outside. The mosquitos are everywhere. I will take December over July every day of the week. I prefer the virtual heat from tropical video games, including one from a classic nineties platformer. So now, to celebrate it being too damn hot, let's dive into a tropical franchise you may remember.
Crash Bandicoot is one of the franchises I think most people who were around in the nineties and the following decade can recognize. The classic gameplay loop of sprinting down a hallway as this radical orange fuzz tornado is certainly something everyone remembers. Some may also remember it being legitimately painful to play at times because of how hard it was. Sometimes, late at night, I still experience war flashbacks to nearly smashing controllers over this stupid prick's levels.
But at least the music slapped!
Does the Grammy show offer an award for the tune that is the "most fitting track to listen to while drinking punch out of a fruit"? If they do, this is the obvious winner. While the instrumentation certainly gives off the most tropical of vibes, the melody hits with just enough of that bouncy and bombastic funk to really hit you in the face with that nineties energy you certainly miss (remember Alf? He's back, in Pog form!).
Alright, let's turn up the heat with some turbulent level music.
Oh hot damn. Literally, this track actually generates heat when I listen to it. I get extremely hot when I listen to it. Not like the kind of hot when I look at Terra from Final Fantasy or Professor Oak from Pokemon, but like, physically warmer. Much like the levels it plays during, this is a track that just feels dense, sweltering, and just a tad bit dangerous. But, just like the game as a whole, it still remains fun and enthusiastic, which fits perfectly for a game that can be extremely tough and frustrating at times.
Alright, I'm too tired to keep writing. I really hope your weekend is full of fun times and good memories. Be sure to stay cool as best as you can and don't forget that the sun is a deadly laser and the sweet times of autumn are just over a month away.
Thank you, as always, for checking out my nonsensical ramblings. I'm going to go sit in some ice and cry because it's hot and I'm angry about it. I'll catch you back here next time with another suggestion from my music box.
Stay Brutal!
PS. As per usual, I got a third track. Here's the funktastic remix of The Lost City from the 2017 remake of the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy.
