P-Vock's Music Box: We Shall Fight!
Hello and welcome back to P-Vock's Music Box. 2023 is shaping up to be a banger year for games. I've talked at length about so many games I'm excited about. Most of those games are stupidly long and stupidly sad RPGs.
They definitely are the genre I enjoy the most, but they aren't the only genre I enjoy. I enjoy most genres to an extent, but there's one that (literally) just hits differently, and luckily, the genre's flagship series is about to receive its sixth mainline game.
To honour this, let's hit the streets once again and fight!
Ever since it was first revealed with this absolute jam accompanying it, I have been aggressively hyped for Street Fighter 6.
The gameplay looks bombastic and fun. The story looks interesting. The characters look awesome. The music hits.
The main theme, Not on the Sidelines, does everything a main theme should. Every time I hear it, I just want to punch shit. It fires me up just as much as any high-speed race or super-intense boss theme.
When I blast this theme, I just yearn for this game to release already. I think that is absolutely a sign of a good main theme.
Also, bonus points for making a song about not being on the sidelines and including physically disabled artists in the music video, we love to see inclusivity in this house!
Recently, we got a new trailer for Street Fighter 6 that showed off newcomer Lily and a couple of returning vets.
But not just any old vets, the vets that also happen to be the two hottest fighting game characters ever.

Seriously, both Zangief and Cammy look incredible and I'm unsure which one I'm more in love with now.
So since I've been dreaming about them ever since I saw the trailer and laid eyes on them, let's jam out to their themes.
Zangief's face in the thumbnail tells you everything you need to know about the theme. It's so confident. So bold. So brash. Just a fun theme for an unbelievably fun character with a larger-than-life personality. It is rather simple, yet delivers on what it wants to effortlessly.
Much like like the absolute legend it accompanies, it is nothing more or less than a fun time that makes you want to clobber someone.
Quite the contrast to Cammy...
It's quick. It never slows down. It has a constant barrage of determined notes, emblematic of the fast and deadly Cammy. It maintains this quality of being stealthy and aloof, fantastic for a member of the British Special Forces, while also having the drive and energy you'd come to expect from a fighting game theme. It absolutely delivers the feeling of it all hitting the fan during an important mission while still maintaining that passion and will to kill that makes Cammy such a delightful character.
This is one good ass theme. No, I'm not sorry for that.
You're probably not going to be piledriving someone headfirst into the ground or dazing them before roundhouse kicking them in the back of the head, but I hope this dive into Street Fighter music gets you excited for your weekend. I love a good fighter (even if I suck at them) and Street Fighter 6 looks like it is going to be something really special and I simply cannot wait. I also wouldn't be opposed to Zangief or Cammy stepping on me.
I mean, what?
Thank you as always for checking out my nonsense and I hope to catch you back here next time with another suggestion from my Music Box.
Stay Brutal!
