P-Vock's Music Box: Oh Mii Oh My
Hello and welcome back to P-Vock's Music Box. Friends, there are some damn good sports on right now. I could ramble on about how excited I am that my Celtics took down the Bucks, or I could rant about how awesome it is that my Riders resigned Charleston Hughes, or I could trash talk the Oilers until the cows come home. But, nah, I'm just feeling damn good right now with all the sports. So, I think it is about time to talk about the most iconic sports video game of all time.
Wii have all played Wii Sports. It's the sports video game. The absolutely iconic Wii Sports title is the only time bowling was ever seriously fun in my opinion. The game that features Matt, the greatest boxer of all time who will absolutely wreck you. This pack-in title is 16 years old (Jesus Christ I'm old) and I miss it. I miss the days of playing golf until the wee hours of the night. I miss getting way too intense over a game of baseball. I miss the pure chaotic fun of a nice boxing match. But more than anything, I miss the greatest title screen music of all time.
OOOF! Do you feel that? Do you feel that hit? The hit of that drop after those iconic notes? Every time I hear it, I feel it hit me right in the childhood. It's just so motivating. You just hear those beats and want to get up and groove, and then virtually punch your cousin in the face. Or, in real life, if your cousin sucks. It's such a wonderful mix of motivating, athletic, and relaxed. It perfectly embodies the fun competition the game was made for.
Also fun fact. The composer of this and many of the tracks from the Nintendo Wii library, Kasumi Totaka, is also the person who does the voice for Yoshi.
Already, Wii Sports is great, and I need to go pick up the recently released Nintendo Switch Sports. But you know, I am just in a Wii mood now. So now that we have had some absolutely bopping music for sports, let's take a trip to the Wii menu and go shopping.
Another Totaka-composed certified jam. If Wii Sports is the track that makes me crave some friendly competition, this is the track that makes me want to go buy stuff. Never before has capitalism sounded so damn sexy. The intro just sets it up, and that melody sounds as good in your ear as the name Max Power. But you mustn't fear when the Wii Shop Channel loads up, because the tunes will never let you down.
Alright, I think it's about time I wrap this one up. Friends, I'm just feeling good these days. So, I just wanted to share some good vibes and get you set for this long weekend with some nostalgic bops you may not have heard for a few years. Thank you so much, as always, for checking this out and I'll catch you here next time with another suggestion from my Music Box. Stay Brutal.
PS. Alright, alright, alright. I gotta give you one last track to leave you with. Enjoy this jamming cover that feels a little more intense than the original track.
