P-Vock's Music Box: I'm the Splat Man
Hello and welcome back to P-Vock's Music Box. Friends, it is finally here. After months of waiting, Splatoon 3 has finally launched and I am beyond excited. New weapons, maps, modes, and characters await us, but the chance for me to be completely terrible at a shooter remains the same! I seriously can't wait to hit the Splatlands and start spreading more goo than a lonely high schooler who just discovered Rihanna (shut up, we all had a type).
Though, if I'm being honest, part of me is just excited to hear some new music. Speaking of...
One of my favourite details about Splatoon is the Splatfest events. During these events, the entire atmosphere of the game changes, and the hub world becomes an absolute party. This is one of the most perfect tracks for that type of atmosphere I've ever heard. The rhythm is infectious, the whistles give me the feeling that I'm walking around the grounds of an Olympics or FIFA World Cup, and the trademark Splatoon gibberish lyrics tie it all together into a nice little package I can't help but bob my head along to. It definitely motivates me to lobby up and head into a match.
So, let's do just that.
Oh yeah, this is that good stuff. Splatoon does a fantastic job of feeling intense and completely skill dependent, but remains wacky enough that I never get too into it and feel the need to throw a controller out the window and duke it out with my team who just REFUSE TO PUSH OBJECTIVE!
sigh It's okay, I'm good.
This is certainly a jam, but I do have one complaint. I can't not get too competitive when I play this game, so I wanna get hyped up and lose my mind in the intensity...
Now THIS is what I'm talking about. This is that kind of high speed, high intensity, high octane kind of beat I want to hear while I'm playing a competitive shooter game that I totally blow at. Good music can certainly elevate an already intense moment into something insane, and this certainly did this when we were given access to a Global Testfire for Splatoon 3 last month and my friends and I spent hours jamming game after game while banging our heads to this beyond stellar tune. I am already convinced that this is going to be my favourite track from all of Splatoon 3 and I want to roll more games just to hear this tune over and over again.
Alright, that's enough writing for me, I wanna go play video games. This really is one of my favourite newer IPs in media and I'm really excited to feel this buzz in the Splatoon community around a new game. It is a wholly unique game that I really cannot recommend enough to anyone, so I'm going to stop talking your ear off (or would it be "talk your eye off" because you're reading this?) and go play some Splatoon 3 as soon as possible.
Thank you for checking out my content, and I'll catch you back here next time with another suggestion from my Music Box.
PS. If you'd like to actually see some Splatoon gameplay, I'll be streaming the game with some of my pals over on my Twitch channel later today at about 4:30 PM MST, and potentially more throughout the weekend, twitch.tv/p_vock
