P-Vock's Music Box: Animals
Hello and welcome back to P-Vock's Music Box. Friends, it has been two freakin' years. Just over two years since we began what was likely the most insane period of time any of us will ever experience. How does time fly so fast? To remember the crazy time that was March of 2020, let's revisit a video game that came out and proved to be just what so many of us needed. Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
It is beyond hilarious to me that right as the world kind of stopped and people were scattered, a game that would provide the necessary escape and means to virtually meet with one another would launch. New Horizons, while not my favourite entry in the beloved series, was just what I needed two years ago and I put a ton of hours into it. It was the perfect level of cozy, and I think the main theme of the game perfectly captures that idea. Have a listen.
It's relaxing. It's charming. It has just a slight twang of adventurous ambition and heart. But above all, it's just a damn good piece of music that makes me yearn to fire up the game once again and make some clothing patterns or chat with some fake animals. It's the perfect title theme for this kind of game . . . is exactly what I would be saying if the game that came before New Horizons didn't already take that title.
Now THIS is my jam! New Leaf is definitely my favourite entry in the Animal Crossing series to this day and the stellar OST is a huge reason as to why. There are not many pieces of music that fill me with nostalgic glee anywhere near to the level of New Leaf's main theme. It is an absolute banger.
We may not necessarily be completely out of these crazy times, but it's nice to know that we have made a good amount of progress and are still able to carry on no matter what. But I'll save the drama and sign off now. I've got to get back to playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Nintendo Switch. I hope your weekend kicks all kinds of ass and I'll see you back here next time with another suggestion from my Music Box. Stay Brutal!
PS. I simply have to also drop a cover that is probably the best version of the New Leaf main theme. Enjoy!
